The Everyman: The participants are Zero's family (D team), people directly involved in the snail incident (Q team and Akane) and people who have previously faced Free The Soul (Junpei and Akane).Eagleland: During his speech of how he became a firefighter, there is a glaring United States flag right behind him, making him a Type 1.Driven to Suicide: Should the player decide in the Q-End 1 route that Junpei's killer is himself.In one of the paths, he's killed by Akane using a fire extinguisher to smack him into a bloody pulp when she sees Junpei having been killed by Carlos. Death by Irony: Before coming to Dcom, he was a firefighter.His sister would have also died if not for their esper abilities manifesting. Dark and Troubled Past: His parents died in a fire that Carlos was too inexperienced to save them from.He saved her in a fire that burned their house, and has been looking after her ever since he's participating in the Dcom experiment to get the money for her medical care. Cool Big Bro: To his beloved younger sister.Celibate Hero: He is currently uninterested in romance due to having to look after his sister.Audience Surrogate: For newcomers to the series, he is an outsider to Akane and Junpei's relationship.An Arm and a Leg: If he concludes that Akane killed Junpei, she cuts off his left arm with a chainsaw before Carlos kills her.Instead of shooting the idea down because he's not interested in men, Carlos declines because he has "no time for a love life." Furthermore, Carlos doesn't show any romantic or physical attraction to women. Ambiguously Gay: At one point Carlos states he'd like to know more about Junpei, to which Junpei asks if Carlos is interested in him.A level-headed and honourable firefighter with a "serious reason" for taking part in the Decision Game.
